2 brothers suffering from chronic malnutrition receive help from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Two brothers from Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac who are battling chronic malnutrition, received help from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a "24 Oras" report, Wednesday, eight-year-old Roger can no longer walk due to his weight, while his 12-year-old brother, Christian Jake, has a hunchback after falling from a tree.

Their mother cannot bring them to the hospital, fearing that they won't be able to afford to pay the bills.

She only earns P5,000 from her job as a helper.

In cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare Satellite Region 3, the Municipal Social Welfare Development of Sta. Ignacia, and barangay officials, GMA Kapuso Foundation immediately brought the brothers to the hospital.

"Ang initial diagnosis natin sa magkapatid ay chronic malnutrition and then may secondary infection na po sila sa mga wounds," Tarlac Provincial Hospital Pedia Resident Dr. Emil Umipig said.

In 2019, their father passed away due to an aneurysm and tuberculosis.

"Since close contact sila mataas po ang chance na na-transfer po yung tuberculosis," Umipig said.

Roger and Christian Jake's ongoing infections are now being treated.

For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
