Man with paranoid schizophrenia finishes stay in psychiatric ward thanks to GMA Kapuso Foundation

Three months after receiving medical help through GMA Kapuso Foundation, a 29-year-old man with paranoid schizophrenia has finally completed his three-month stay in a psychiatric ward.

According to "24 Oras," Wednesday, Jun, not his real name, was first diagnosed with the condition in 2014.

But because of poverty, his parents couldn't afford his treatment. His behavior eventually worsened, making his family lock him up inside a room.

"Hindi makatulog. Nagdadabog. Pati 'yung pader, ginaganon niya hanggang masaktan 'yung kamay niya," his mother said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation had him checked up, and he was admitted to a hospital to monitor his condition and be given proper medication.

Three months later, Jun was discharged from the hospital and can now move freely inside their house.

So kailangan ituloy-tuloy natin 'yung mga gamot niya," he said.

According to the Department of Health, Filipinos facing mental health issues have increased even more, reaching 3.6 million at the height of the pandemic.

For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
