UK-based makeup artist stresses importance of ‘staying true to your color’ especially for Asians

For UK-based makeup artist Howard Kong Cherng Xiao, Filipinos need to stay true to their natural skin tone.

The participant in BBC's "Glow Up” Season 5 was at Five Beauty’s makeup masterclass on Thursday held at 205 BGC, and said if there’s one thing he wants to change with Asians’ makeup routine, it is that they should stop going one or two shades lighter with their foundation.

“Remember to embrace your color. If you’re tan, you’re tan,” the guest makeup artist said.

“Enjoy that because there is always a product for every single person,” he added. “There’s always a color for you regardless of how tan or pale you are.”

Howard was joined by fellow “Glow Up” alum Taisha Sherwood during the event and both of them shared a demo of using Five Beauty’s newest limited edition shade, Wonder, for the eyes, cheeks, and lips.

The newest shade, Wonder, is a neutral apricot in color with a hydrating satin finish. It’s the perfect shade for summer, especially when you’re at the beach, and you want to amplify a sun-kissed glow on your face.

Five Beauty is a homegrown beauty brand co-owned by Kapuso It Girl Gabbi Garcia. It specializes in makeup with the premise of simplifying your beauty routine in just five minutes through a 3-in-1 hybrid makeup stick for your eyes, cheeks, and lips.

Five Beauty’s limited-edition shade Wonder is now available until supplies last.
