Bianca Umali joins panel to advocate breast cancer awareness and prevention: 'A mission for my mom'
Bianca Umali joined a group of panelists in an event as an advocate of breast cancer prevention awareness.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Bianca talked about the importance of early screening and detection, which can make a crucial difference in saving lives.
"Because I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was five. Mahalaga sa akin to spread awareness of what self-care and what women's health really means, especially to the younger generation because I wouldn't want any other little girl to go through what I went through," she said.
Bianca said that her advocacy for breast cancer is not something she does just for herself.
"This is a mission for my mom, at para na rin sa kabataan at sa mga babae na maaaring matulungan ko through the story that I have," she said.
Bianca was orphaned at an early age. On top of losing her mother at age five, Bianca also lost her dad due to a heart attack when she was 10. She was raised by her grandmother, Mama Vicky.
Bianca currently stars in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," which airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." You can also watch it online via the Kapuso Stream on YouTube. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
