Jake Cuenca says he's been sober for 6 years

Jake Cuenca revealed on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” Wednesday that he has been sober for six years.

“I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I’ve given it up,” the actor said.

Jake clarified that his drinking wasn’t bad, “but it put me in bad situations.”

“It’s almost like I was relying on it too much na at the end of the day, ‘yun na ‘yung gagamitin mong tool pang pagpag,” he said.

According to Jake, he was all about partying and nightlife when he was younger.

“It’s almost like it was even more important than work at times for me, parang socializing, friends,” the actor said.

Jake said what made him stop was a run-in with the police, when they had a chase.

“It was a rock bottom for me,” he said.

Jake added he felt “very lucky” that his home network reassured him of his career, and that they would still work together.

“I was relieved with that but at the same time, parang I already felt uncomfortable kasi ilang taon na ‘ko and I’m finding myself in a situation like this,” Jake said.

“Like I say eh, with the rock bottom is the opportunity to rise. Actually, it can be a powerful driving force that will motivate you for success if you use it correctly.”

During his appearance, Jake admitted his relationship with Rabiya Mateo. — LA, GMA News
