Alden Richards leads World Bicycle Day ride, promotes cycling as outlet for mental health

Alden Richards is encouraging more Filipinos to take up cycling, saying the activity has become an important part of his self-care routine.

In Athena Imperial’s report in “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday, the Asia’s Multimedia Star shared that cycling serves as an escape from the demands of his busy work schedule and helps him maintain his mental and overall well-being

“Since marami akong engagements in everyday because of my work environment, isa 'yung cycling sa tinitreat ko na outlet ko for mental health and at the same time para refresher,” Alden said.

“Kumbaga para maka-eject lang ako doon sa work environment and at the same time makabalik ako na refreshed,” he added.

As a cycling advocate, Alden led around 800 cyclists during the celebration of World Bicycle Day.

He expressed happiness over the continued growth of the cycling community in the Philippines.

“Nakakatawa lang na slowly palaki nang palaki 'yung cycling community dito sa Pilipinas,” he said.

The actor also reminded cyclists to prioritize safety whenever they hit the road.

“Be mindful of the road, kailangan laging may helmet, make sure that 'yung bike niyo is in good condition before riding out and safety first,” he advised.

Alden has long been an advocate of health and wellness, often sharing his fitness journey which includes running and biking. He also joined a triathlon relay in March.

He also graced the Sparkle Fun Run last week.

Alden is set to star in the upcoming Kapuso medical drama “Code Gray” alongside Andrea Torres, Shuvee Etrata and Faith Da Silva.
