This is not a drill: "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" remake is hitting Switch 2 consoles on November 5!

During a Nintendo Direct on Tuesday night, series producer Eiji Aonuma unveiled the gameplay for the highly anticipated video game.

Graphics were remade from the ground up

"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64.

For the remake, Aonuma said they aimed for a faithful interpretation using modern technologies.

"The visuals have been completely redone," he said.

"We were particularly focused on reimagining them in a way that invokes nostalgia for the original game," he added.

Camera is rotatable

Moving the camera around wasn't possible on the Nintendo 64 controller because it had only one joystick.

On the Switch 2, players get to rotate the camera and see more of the surroundings.

New dialogue

To allow personalities to shine even more, Nintendo has added more dialogue for NPCs, like Saira.

The characters Link meets are also fully voiced during cutscenes.

Link can now jump

Unlike in the original game where Link automatically jumps when reaching a ledge, players can jump at will with a press of a button when it comes to the remake.

Additionally, Link can now swim! He can dash in the water and dive to pick up rupees under the surface.

Threads of Time

Here's a totally new feature: Threads of Time.

As demonstrated by Aonuma, it allows players to track story progress and objectives.

Additionally, the tapestry in the settings menu fills in as players continue their adventure.

Hyrule Castle Town comes alive

As the camera is no longer fixed in the "Ocarina of Time" remake, players are able to explore and move freely.

For example, in the Hyrule Castle Town, they get to see more of the townsfolk and chat with them.

They can also move around areas that used to only be backdrops, like alleys, which is rich with gossip.

There are also mini games in shops!

Last but not the least, the ocarina

The most important and most iconic item in the game is no doubt the ocarina.

Switch 2 users need only to hum the notes and the console will pick up on it.

It also responds to instruments, such as an actual ocarina. —JCB, GMA News
