'Spider-Man: Homecoming' climbs its way up to over P200 Million
According to estimates tallied by Columbia Pictures Philippines, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" has earned the Biggest Non-Holiday Opening Weekend since the film opened in theaters in the Philippines on July 6.
The first Spidey Film jointly made by Marvel Studios, Disney, and Sony Pictures took in P70.9 Million on Saturday to earn the record “Single Biggest Day of All-Time”.
It also earned the “Second Biggest Single Day” sales on July 8 Sunday with P68 Million.
In its first four days in the Philippines, the movie grossed a whopping P209.44 million, making it one of the largest openings for a superhero film in July.
Earning a record shattering $120 Million in the US when it debuted and $140 Million opening gross overseas, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” has earned $260 Million on its first weekend globally.
Ever since Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker and his heroic alter ego in the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War”, fans have been impressed with the young English actor’s portrayal of Marvel’s iconic character, resulting in the biggest opening weekend for a July movie.
With the movie now heading on to its second weekend, it’s a great time to be a Spidey fan and see firsthand a fresh and fun new interpretation of the webslinger in the big screen!
