Various orgs release special edition Martial Law pamphlets

The UP Journalism Club on the 45th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines released a special issue of their official publication, Krisis.

Entire sections of the paper's front page are redacted, reflective of the time during the dictatorship when Ferdinand Marcos ordered the closure of numerous media outfits.

Information was tightly controlled by the government and the press as well as the public had little freedom during Marcos' regime.

Advocacy org Dakila, meanwhile, took advantage of hard-won liberties to release facts about Martial Law in "Hayag."

The special edition tabloid includes an open letter from Dakila President Lourd De Veyra, protest art, a Martial Law dictionary, and a easy-to-digest summary of the United Nations Declarations of Human Rights among others.

“The tabloid is not only a platform to voice out our thoughts as a collective. In a way it’s also a coming together of our members to share thoughts on pressing issues through different voices,” Dakila's Creative Director Andrei Venal shared.

"Hayag" was distributed at the mass protest at Rizal Park. — LA, GMA News
