12th Japan International MANGA Award now open for submissions

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines this week announced that they are now officially accepting submissions for the annual Japan International MANGA Award.

Interested artists must submit one accomplished entry form and two hard copies of their original manga work with numbered pages. The manga must exceed 16 pages and must include an English or Japanese translation if written in the artist's local language.

An applicant can only submit one entry and the entry must have been produced within the last three years (2015 to 2018).

Three Silver Awards will be given in addition to the Gold Award for the best manga entry. Gold and Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan for a period of 10 days to attend an awarding ceremony, which will be held around February 2019, and meet fellow manga art creators from around the world.

Now on its 12th year, the Japan International MANGA Award was conceived by former Minister of Foreign Affairs Taro Aso as a way to help promote manga and Japan culture overseas and to foster harmonious cultural exchanges through art.

Visit the official website of the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines for more details, including the mailing address for the submissions. — AT, GMA News
