8 places to catch the Pacquiao-Matthysse fight

For only the second time in five years, the Philippines’ eight-division world champion Senator Manny Pacquiao will fight in the same timezone as his kababayans, when he takes on Argentinian and World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse on July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 39-year old PacMan, (59-7-2 win-loss-draw record), who is coming off a controversial, 12-round loss against Australian Jeff Horn in Brisbane a year ago, is fighting against a slightly younger opponent in the 35-year old Matthysse (39-4-1).

Aside from coming in as the challenger, it's interesting to note the absence of Pacquiao’s long-time trainer Freddie Roach and the non-participation of Top Rank and its CEO Bob Arum as one of the fight promoters.

In fact, the Pambansang Kamao is taking on the additional role of match arranger via his MP Promotions.

As always, ardent fans and loyal supporters will troop to various venues to dine and drink while watching the pride of General Santos City trade punches with the reigning Argentinian champion.

Aside from coverage of major TV networks, including GMA, below are some venues you can catch out on the morning of July 15.
