This radio DJ voices one of your favorite Pokemon characters

Most days, Klariz Laurelle Magboo is heard by fans as DJ Kara on the radio.

But if you're into anime, you've probably been hearing her voice without realizing it's her.

Clarice is the voice of Ash Ketchum in the Tagalized version of the Pokemon animated series, which aired on GMA-7.

"Tuwing nanonood ako ng mga cartoons, sabi ko, hala ang galing. So meron akong friend na dubber at that time, sabi ko gusto ko ring mag-dub," she tells Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

As she auditioned for the role, she even did research into the character of Ash on the hit series.

For her, the job isn't just about reading her lines.

"Kasi voice acting 'di ba, dapat marunong ka ring umarte, hindi lang basta syncing. Kailangan may feelings din 'yung pagsasalita mo," says Klariz, who admits that she even dreams of Ash's lines from the series.

"Kahit tulog ako, naririnig ko na, 'Pikachu, mag-thunderbolt ka na,' sabi ko, boses ko 'yun ah." —JST, GMA News
