3 pop-up libraries that would gladly take your second-hand books
Donating your used books is not only a great way to tidy up — it's also a way to help children who need more access to books in their neighborhoods.
Here are three accessible, out-of-the-box libraries featured on GMA-7 morning show "Unang Hirit" that would gladly take those books off your hands.
1. Lakbay Aklatan
This bus that was converted into a traveling library can bring your second-hand books to students who need them. Lakbay Aklatan is an initiative by Five Star Bus Company and Hulma Foundation.
2. The Book Stop Project
This tiny public library located at the heart of Intramuros is also a venue for events like poetry readings and spoken-word performances.
3. Lib of Positivity
This "street library" in Davao City where kids can pick a book from a shelf and read it on the sidewalk is the brainchild of 16-year-old Lorenzo Fuentespina, who really wanted to put his old books to good use.
Lakbay Aklatan, The Bookstop Project and Lib of Positivity all have initiatives aimed to cultivate literacy among the youth.
