Decluttering guru Marie Kondo now has an online shop selling things that ‘spark joy’

Tidying expert Marie Kondo, who redefined the decluttering experience with her trademark KonMari Method, recently set up an online shop that sells home and self-care products that "sparked joy."

According to the Wall Street Journal, she launched her e-commerce shop on her website this week.

Kondo posted made the announcement about her shop on her social media accounts.

"This online shop is a collection of my favorite things and items that spark joy for me. My tidying method isn’t about getting rid of things—it’s about heightening your sensitivity to what brings you joy," Kondo wrote on her website.

She added that once people have completed their tidying experience, they can "now welcome new and meaningful objects, people and experiences into their lives."

The New York Times bestselling author hoped that the items from her shop will spark joy for customers and their loved ones. She also wrote that she hoped buyers would "cherish and use them for years to come."

The KonMari Shop's catalog includes a 75$ tuning fork with a rose quartz crystal, a $180 steam donabe (earthenware pot) with grate, $206 leather room shoes, and a $275 brass tool holder.

At present, shipping is limited to US-based areas.

Some netizens expressed their disappointment and apprehension at the decluttering guru's newest venture.

"I feel a little uncomfortable about this. Kondo-san, I hope you won’t become too drawn into the toxic portions of the American retail culture. Do we really need you to sell us more stuff?" asked Instagram user beritbunny.

Meanwhile, a ceramic studio based in UK silviakceramics described the venture as "ironic" for Kondo.

"Isn't this ironic? Consumerism at its best. More paraphernalia for your home just with another brand name attached to it," silviakceramics wrote on IG. — Angelica Y. Yang/BM, GMA News
