Why stop with reusable straws and cups? This holiday season, why not use recycled Christmas decorations? With just the right amount of creativity, you can turn recyclable materials into wonderful Christmas decors.

Artificial Christmas trees made of PVC are not only a health hazard, but they can damage the environment as well. To do your part of conserving nature, opt for a more eco-friendly material such as tissue paper rolls.

Doing the tissue paper roll Christmas tree is simple. All you need is to glue the materials together.

Aside from tissue paper rolls, you can also use other recyclable materials. This includes newspapers, cardboard boxes, and dry twigs to create a Christmas tree that Mother Earth will approve.

Christmas Lights

Forego the traditional Christmas lights and go for paper bags. Paper bag Christmas lights can make the ambiance both festive and solemn this year. And the best thing about it is... guess what? They are less damaging to Earth compared to your incandescent lights.

To pull this DIY project off, carve some cute Christmas-y designs on old paper bags. Then, place LED artificial tea candles inside, and voila! You got unique lighting that is pretty and nature-friendly.

Christmas Baubles

Replace your usual plastic Christmas baubles with this ingenious craft: soda can ring baubles. All you need to do is to glue the rings together. Collect other soda drinkers’ trash and create some baubles to adorn your recycled Christmas tree.

But for the health-conscious, the CD mosaic bauble is also a great option. If you’re disposing of your old CDs, turn them into unique baubles instead.

Christmas Ornaments

If you have enough plastic spoon at your disposal, you can turn them into cute-sized Christmas tree ornaments. Just get the heads of the spoon and glue them onto a cone paper to make small trees.

You can also use plenty of other common household items such as old textbooks, bottle caps, and tissue paper rolls. Why not throw them if you can reuse and recycle to make some cool Christmas ornaments?

Gift Wrapper

Tearing the gift wrapper savagely can be fun, but it’s time you stop doing this anymore. This year, practice carefully opening the gifts underneath the Christmas tree.

Open them by the edges, fold them, and save them for later use. Recycling gift wrappers can go a long way in preserving Mother Earth, especially that they are partly made of PVC. Yes, these papers have plastic in it!

Or better yet, use other kinds of wrappers in place of the traditional ones. You can use old newspapers, magazines, and even old tissue paper rolls to wrap your presents. You get to cut on waste while making your gift look super neat.

This year, it’s time to make a difference. And this starts with you. Cut on waste at home by turning them into creative Christmas decors. It’s cheap, neat, and environmental-friendly, so it’s a win-win for you.
