Baby celebrates 1st birthday with 'quarantine-themed' party at home amid Luzon-wide lockdown
This baby celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday with a "quarantine-themed" party at home, as the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been extended.
Cammy Aoiko, baby Ocean's mom, shared that she initially had a grand celebration in mind for her baby's first birthday — a big birthday party with over 100 guests. With the ECQ in place, shse had to cancel her plans.
Still, Cammy cannot not celebrate the milestone. So she decided to decorate her dining area and her baby's room with caution tape designs, and yellow and black balloons, all matched with a big sign that says "None of you are invited."
"I still wanted it to be memorable but at the same time, embracing our current situation," Cammy told GMA News Online on Thursday. "I actually wouldn't have it any other way 'cause we were able to spend quality time with my family during this special day."
Cammy shared that it was rare for her family to be together at home before the quarantine, and since they were all present to celebrate baby Ocean's birthday, Ocean relished the attention everyone gave her.
Cammy admitted it wasn't easy preparing for her firstborn's party. "We had to improvise and make use of what we had or could find at the grocery. Buying party supplies during this time is almost impossible,' she shared. " Luckily some groceries had craft supplies but it was very limited."
The food, including the beautiful cake, was made by her family, Cammy shared.
The Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, initially to end on April 13, has been extended until April 30. With the lockdown, strict home quarantine and suspension of public transportation have been implemented. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
