MOTHER'S DAY 2020

What to watch on Netflix based on what kind of film character your mom is

Watching a movie together can be a fun bonding activity you can do with your mom this Mother's Day,

Since a lot of people will be celebrating Mother’s Day indoors amid the enhanced community quarantine, binge-watching on Netflix with the special woman in your life would have to do.

If you’re unsure on what to watch on the special day, Netflix has listed down recommendations on what movies to watch based on what kind of Netflix character your mom is.

Whether she’s the best friend slash mom like Lorelai from "Gilmore Girls" or the free-spirited mom like Frankie from "Grace and Frankie," here are some good films and series to bond over:

If your mom is the best friend type

If your mom is like a best friend to you, then she's similar to Lorelai from "Gilmore Girls." She's always quick to make you laugh, but also always there to be a shoulder to cry on.

If your mom is like Lorelai, then Netflix suggests you watch “Atypical,” “Jane the Virgin,” “20th Century Women,” or “Holiday in the Wild.”

If your mom is the protective type

If your mom is on the protective side, then she’s similar to Joyce from “Stranger Things.” Joyce has always shown that she’d do whatever it takes to protect her kids, even if she takes matter into her own hands.

If your mom is like Joyce, she might enjoy watching “Locke & Key,” “Raising Dion (Cómo Criar a un Superhéroe),” “Good Girls” and “I Am Mother.”

If your mom is very free-spirited

If your mom is a free spirit who believes in the power of Mother Nature and shamans, then she may be just like Frankie from “Grace & Frankie”!

Your mom isn’t quite strict, and she always excels when it comes to the arts.

If your mom is like Frankie, she may enjoy shows such as “La Casa de las Flores,” “Sex Education,” “The Goop Lab,” and “Absurd Planet.

If your mom is very down-to-earth

Your mom may just be like standup comedian Ali Wong if she’s very down-to-earth and accepts the good and the bad parts of motherhood.

If she’s anything like Ali, she may like “Train to Busan,” “Homecoming,” “Roma,” or “Stranger Things.”

If your mom is a very strong woman

If your mom is just like Jen from “Dead to Me” then she’s a very strong woman who holds it together for her kids. With the help of a little bit of white wine and a dose of sarcasm, your mom marches through life even if it’s not easy.

If this sounds like your mom, she may like “Workin’ Moms,” “Russian Doll,” “Grace & Frankie,” and “After Life.”

If you’re mom is very open about anything under the sun

If your mom has no problem talking to you about sex, life, or anything in between, then she may be just like Dr. Jean Maliburn from “Sex Education.”

Dr. Jean approaches life with an open and curious mind, even if she may or may not need a little bit of filter.

If your mom is similar to her, she may like “Birthmarked,” “Sex, Explained,” “Unnatural selection (Selección antinatural),” “100 Humans: Life’s Questions. Answered,” and “The Politician.”

Whatever you decide to watch, make sure to let your mom know just how much she’s loved on Mother’s Day and all the days after!
