College of Saint Benilde to hold Filipino Sign Language online lessons

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde will hold a series of online lessons for basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL).

In a Facebook note, the DLS-CSB School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies said the sessions will be on May 30, June 6, and June 13 and will last for 20 to 30 minutes.

The lessons are free of charge, but CSB said they are accepting donations for the #SignForSigns Fundraising Campaign.

"A minimum contribution of P350 will give you access to an FSL Learning Kit, which you can use to continue learning sign language at home," the SDEAS said.

Due to insistent public demand, Benilde SDEAS will be launching a series of basic Filipino Sign Language learning...

The proceeds will be for the benefit of deaf students who are stranded in their dormitories as well as indigent deaf scholars who need to return to their respective provinces once quarantine is lifted.

Other beneficiaries include the FSL Learning Program faculty who are on "no work, no pay" scheme and the FSL Access Team for COVID-19 who serve as media interpreters.

The first session will go live on Facebook at 4 pm on Saturday. —MGP, GMA News
