LISTENING PARTY

Spotify users can share playlist, control playback simultaneously with new Group Session feature

Spotify has just updated its listening party feature which allows users to stream songs with others at the same time even if they’re physically apart.

Spotify first launched in May the Group Session feature, which allowed groups of premium users to share control of their listening sessions with others in real time.

With the latest update, Group Session now allows Spotify premium users around the world to “tune into the same playlist or podcast simultaneously … whether six feet apart or a thousand miles away.”

“So no matter the distance … you and the members of your squad can now each listen to the same content at the same time on your own devices (as well as control playback),” said the music streaming platform in its release.

Two to five people in a group can use the feature on their mobile or tablet. Both hosts and guests can pause, play, skip, select tracks on queue and even add their own choices.

“If one person makes a change, it will immediately be reflected on all participant devices. Talk about squad goals,” said Spotify.

To start the listening party, just tap the Connect button at the bottom of the play screen and under the “Start a group session” option, click “Start Session.” Then, tap “Invite Friends” and share the link online.

According to Spotify, Group Session is still on beta mode and may undergo more changes and updates. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
