After 33 years, 'Dirty Dancing' is getting a sequel

"Dirty Dancing" is getting a sequel!

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement 33 years after the iconic film was released.

"It will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise’s fans have been waiting for and that have made it the biggest-selling library title in the company’s history," Feltheimer said in an earnings call, according to reports.

According to Guardian, the sequel to the hit summer romance film will also be starring Jennifer Grey, the same actress who starred in the original as Frances "Baby" Houseman.

Although the plot remains a mystery, Grey is announced to be its executive producer while Jonathan Levine its director.

The original film revolves around Baby who starts an affair with her dance teacher Johnny Castle during summer camp.

Johnny was played by Patrick Swayze who died in 2009 at the age of 57 due to pancreatic cancer.

The film's song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" won an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
