'I am Not Okay With This,' ‘The Society’ get cancelled on Netflix
It’s the end of the road for two of Netflix’s original teen series “I Am Not Okay With This” and “The Society.”
According to Teen Vogue, the streaming service decided not to move forward with the shows' second seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators,” Netflix said in a statement.
“I Am Not Okay With This,” an American Teen comedy-drama starring Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff, premiered its first season in February this year.
The series, which was based on a graphic novel by Charles Forsman, follows a teenage girl who's navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her.
“The Society,” on the other hand, follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents.
Lillis and Oleff have taken to Instagram to say goodbye to the show and posted some never-before-seen on-set photos of the cast.
“The Society” star Kathryn Newton has also taken to social media to thank fans for supporting the show during its short run.
“I just wanted to say thank you to all the fans that are sending society right now. I just got he news this morning and I’m heartbroken, so heartbroken…” Newton said in an IG video posted shortly after receiving the news.
“Everything was written. I can’t even believe it," she said.
