Manila’s Books from Underground is coming back to Lagunislad underpass

“Books from Underground" is set to re-open at Manila's newly-renovated Lagunislad underpass.

The small second-hand book shop was among many businesses affected by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso's clearing operations in July 2019.

After months of rehabilitation, the underground walkway was reopened to the public featuring a dedicated space for “Books from Underground."

As seen in photos shared by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila last Monday, the small, well-lit corner already had several shelves ready for books.

According to the Manila City government, “Books from Underground” is owned by AJ Laberinto.

An announcement on Facebook said the bookshop plans to begin operations by next week, offering books as low as P60-150.
