Gong Yoo stars in new sci-fi thriller series 'The Silent Sea'

Gong Yoo is set to star in the upcoming series "The Silent Sea," Netflix confirmed on Tuesday.

After his success in the zombie thriller film "Train to Busan," the South Korean actor is set to make hearts stop again in the sci-fi drama.

Starring alongside "Kingdom" actress Bae Doona and "Lucky" actor Lee Joon, Gong Yoo will be playing the role of an exploration team leader living in a waterless Earth filled with deserts.

Leading his team, they set out to secure a mysterious sample from an abandoned facility on the moon.

Written by Park Eun-kyo and produced by Jung Woo-sung, "The Silent Sea" will be directed by Choi Hang Yong who also directed the short film by the same name.

"The Silent Sea" will be released worldwide on Netflix but a release date is yet to be announced. —MGP, GMA News
