Joyce Pring shares 3 tips for aspiring podcasters
Podcasts are an awesome way to keep ourselves entertained, informed and relaxed without having to look at a screen.
“Adulting with Joyce Pring,” for example, is part of Spotify’s Podcast Exclusives lineup which aims to usher the “next chapter” of audio storytelling in the Philippines.
In a recent virtual interview courtesy of Spotify Philippines, the Kapuso host, singer and podcast “ate” said she would love it if more Filipino content creators could join her, so we asked her to share a few simple hacks for aspiring podcasters:
1. Determine your host website.
There are host websites that can also help you create your podcast.
Joyce, for example, uses Anchor, which is a is an online podcast creation tool owned by Spotify which lets anyone create, edit, and host a podcast for free using a mobile app or through their website.
“It basically gives you the chance to do everything, and when you have a nice website host for your podcast, it’s actually easy for you to upload and keep track of all your episodes,” Joyce said.
2. Learn from other podcasts.
She was a big podcast listener before she began “Adulting with Joyce Pring.”
“That’s where I actually got certain things I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t listen to podcasts,” said Joyce.
“Like, how should you open up with your music or how you should open each episode? Should you do an introduction per episode or should you just do one or two introductions per season, you know?” she added.
3. Find your community.
The beauty of a podcast is that a listener can learn something new while trying to relax, going for a walk, or even working out.
For almost two years, Joyce has filled our ears with real-life stories and useful know-how about the life of a 20-something.
Her listeners also get to indulge in her in-depth discussions with guests on a wide range of topics, from love and dating, to money and time management, and even how to cope with a quarter-life crisis and home quarantine.
