Binibining Pilipinas winner gives back to inmates who helped weave her nat’l costume

In light of the approaching Christmas season, a Binibining Pilipinas winner is looking to give back to the inmates of the Angeles District Jail who have helped weave her national costume for the pageant.

According to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras,” the pageant’s Miss Intercontinental 2019 titleholder Emma Mary Tiglao has given the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sanitation kits, vitamins, and medicine numerous times.

“Ang hirap for them na hindi nila nakita o mahawakan man lang ’yung family nila. So, right now this pandemic and ngayong nalalapit na ’yung Christmas, ma-feel man lang nila na outside ng jail merong nagmamahal at ready na tumulong sa kanila,” Tiglao said.

Since March, the inmates have not been visited by their loved ones due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. They instead held e-dalaws or short chats with their families.

Kasi ang isang tao, pag na-feel niyang may support siya or meron siyang natatanggap na tulong sa ibang tao, doon siya nagiging porsigidong tumayo pa, maging better,” she said.

Tiglao’s costumed, named Fe Esperanza Caridad or Faith, Hope, and Charity, has become the pride of Pampanga.

The PDLs weaved the cloth of the gown as if it was a handicraft basket.

Meanwhile, the warden of the Angeles District Jail welcomed the donations.

Joseph Eisen Tacdoy. – Joahna Lei Casilao/RC, GMA News
