Lovi Poe, Winwyn Marquez reveal important realizations after binge-watching K-dramas

Like many of us, Lovi Poe and Winwyn Marquez turned to Korean dramas as a source of entertainment, inspiration and strength during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to her hilarious Instagram posts, we know for a fact that Lovi has been crushing on the likes of Park Seo-joon and Ji Chang-wook, but it turns out that spending all that time binge-watching dramas on the couch has actually helped her develop a great new mindset whenever she walks on set.

“Sabi ko: ‘Wow.’ Pagkaapak ko sa set, sabi ko ‘gagawin ko ang best ko for that person like me, sitting on the couch, because I need that emotion,” Lovi shared during a recent media conference.

“I need to relate to someone especially pag mag-isa ka. Ako kasi, mag-isa ako sa quarantine, so parang, ako, nakaupo ako doon and nakaka-relate ako sa mga fictional characters na ’to and mga actors na ’to na doon ko na-realize na, ‘hay, iba pala ’yung impact ng isang artist.’ Sabi ko, ‘ngayon mas bubutihin ko,’” she added.

Winwyn, who is also self-confessed Hallyu fan, likewise shared how K-dramas empowered her with a newfound appreciation for acting, as well as respect for her fellow artists in the business.

“I love watching variety shows [like] ‘Running Man,’ siyempre ’yung BTS, ’yung mga shows nila, and meron talagang impact ’yung ginagawa ng mga artist eh,” the actress and beauty queen told GMA News Online.

“’Yung napapatawa ka, makakalimutan mo na may pandemic. Kahit pa paano, kaya siguro pati ako kung anu-ano na lang ginagawa ko para mapatawa ’yung kasama ko sa bahay,” she added.

“Doon ko na-realize noong nakaupo ako ng matagal sa bahay and nanonood na parang: ‘Wow, kahit pa paano, nagagawa pala namin ’to? We have the power to actually give joy and give life to people,” said Lovi.

“Kasi, ako, parang routine lang siya sakin na parang, okay, pupunta ako sa work, aarte ako—it’s something that I love and I enjoy doing. But I realized now that I’m sitting at home watching all these TV shows, my god, doon ko na-realize na, ‘I get to do this! I get to make someone feel all these emotions whilst I’m on screen, and that person is sitting on the couch,’” she said.

Hoping to do just that, Lovi Poe and Winwyn Marquez will be starring alongside Tom Rodriguez in the next week-long episode of “I Can See You” titled “High Rise Lovers” set to air next week on GMA Telebabad. – RC, GMA News
