QCinema International Film Festival 2020 goes online

QCinema International Film Festival is set to showcase its lineup this year through a streaming platform.

With its theme “QCinema: A New Filmscape,” the festival is slated to run from Nov. 27 to Dec. 6.

The lineup for QCinema 2020 is set to be released through Upstream, a newly launched transactional video on demand (TVOD) streaming platform, while tickets may be purchased through GMovies.

Through Upstream and GMovies, anyone in the Philippines can watch QCinema 2020 films anytime.

QCinema festival director Ed Lejano said the pandemic and quarantine period “has presented an opportunity for QCinema to reach out to more audiences from across the country. For our special #QCinema2020 edition, we will adapt, explore and take on new forms.”

According to a press statement, this year’s festival will be a mix of foreign and local films and included in the lineup are past QCinema #AsianNextWave and Circle Competition grantees.

The festival will host a variety of online and offline events. Before the 10-day event, QCinema will stream its past QCShorts grantees for free on social media and its website.

It will also give grants to Inter-Guild Alliance and select independent films, the production of which were halted because of the pandemic.

Six short films that present the lighter side of quarantine will also be awarded. – Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/RC, GMA News
