Park Seo-jun weighs in on popularity of K-dramas
Park Seo-jun has shared his thoughts on why South Korean dramas have become a global phenomenon.
In a video shared on Wednesday by Smart Communications during a press event, the actor said he thought it’s because the topics and emotions tackled in K-dramas were universal.
“I’m no analyst, so I’m not sure, but if I were to venture a guess, I’d think that anyone in the world can relate to the human emotions and feelings of the situations that arise on these K-dramas,” said the actor’s translated comments during the interview with host Sam Oh.
Park Seo-jun also cited the excellent production value of K-dramas.
“I also think the actors and crew of K-dramas have improved a great deal, which leads to better programs,” he added.
The “Itaewon Class” star, however, pointed that out that the success of K-dramas could be mostly attributed to the support of viewers.
“But if there was no interest from people, we would be easily forgotten,” he said.
“So I think the biggest factor is the interest of fans.”
Park Seo-jun is one of South Korea’s leading drama actors. He is famous for his roles in the K-dramas “Itaewon Class,” “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”, “Fight For My Way,” “Hwarang,” and “She Was Pretty,” among many other TV and film projects.
He was named the latest Korean superstar endorser of Smart Communications, following the likes of “Crash Landing On You” stars Hyun Bin and Son Hye-jin. – GMA News
