Noel Cabangon, Johnoy Danao, other artists stage online show to raise funds for Rolly, Ulysses victims

Noel Cabangon and Johnoy Danao, among many other musicians, are set to perform in an online program to raise funds for victims affected by Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses.

The Bayanihan Republic Telethon will feature special performances from various artists and host a live discussion with climate activists and advocates to raise funds and to “discuss the climate change and governance in the present Philippine context.”

Among the performers are Diego Mapa, Cooky Chua, Mike Luis, Mandaue Nights, Alfonso Manalastas, and 10 AM Departure, while speakers include Greenpeace Southeast Asia executive director Yeb Sano, weather specialist Ariel Rojas, and photojournalist Ezra Acayan, among other guests.

“For decades, we were taught to believe in resiliency—that in the middle of grave distress, the Filipino people could still stand firm,” said program host Dakila, a group of artists, students and individuals “committed to advocating social consciousness formation.”

“But this time, we can no longer fall from this false excuse. We need to demand accountability. Let us ask for proactive, comprehensive, and science-based plans from our government officials.”
