Pasig, San Juan, Marikina named ‘most bike-friendly cities’ in Metro Manila

Pasig, San Juan, and Marikina received recognition as the “most bicycle-friendly cities” in Metro Manila at the first-ever Mobility Awards.

In partnership with Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, MNL Moves, The Climate Reality Project Philippines and 350 Pilipinas, Mobile Awards announced in October that Pasig and San Juan received the gold title for “most bicycle-friendly cities,” while Marikina received silver.

Meanwhile, SM Mall of Asia and SM City Marikina received the gold award and Bonifacio High Street got silver for being the “most bike-friendly commercial establishments” in Metro Manila.

Pasig Transport, Pasay City’s Government Service Insurance System, and Ortigas’ The Medical City, on the other hand, received the gold distinction for being the “most bike-friendly workplaces,” while University of the Philippines Diliman got silver.

According to its site, Mobile Awards “recognizes bike-friendly local governments, commercial establishments, and workplaces in Metro Manila, and challenges others to keep up.” – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
