Former 'Stand For Truth' reporter Manal Sugadol wins Hildegarde Award
Former "Stand for Truth" reporter Manal Sugadol took home the 14th Hildegarde Award for Outstanding Women in Media and Communication on Thursday.
Organized by the Mass Communication Department of St. Scholastica's College, Manila, the annual Hildegarde Awards honored Manal and one other journalist for this year's prestigious award.
"As a young journalist new in the field... my strength is my origin, kung saan ako nagsimula at saan ako nanggaling," said Manal, a Muslim mobile journalist from Cotabato City, Maguindanao.
Manal, who is also a Bangsamoro and Tausug, said that she wanted to be the best version of herself so she can represent her community in the mainstream media.
"Kasi I grew up in a situation na iilan lang may representation sa mainstream media na katulad ko na wearing hijab," she said. "I would like to be an inspiration sa mga young generation na katulad ko who look forward na katulad nila na nakasuot din ng hijab sa TV o online."
