While watching action-thriller series 'Sweet Home,' director says you'll be asking this question

Director Lee Eung Bok said there was one question he wanted to relay in creating the Korean action-thriller series "Sweet Home."

During the series' recent press conference, Lee Eung Bok said, "There are a lot of monsters in the story but I wanted to focus on humans. 'What are monsters?' That's the question I wanted to pose."

"Something looks like a monster isn't all that so I try to incorporate those kinds of questions and thoughts in the story," he added.

Lee Eung Bok, who also directed "Descendants of the Sun," also said that although he's seen a lot of content with monsters, he hasn't seen monsters that are based on their own desires.

"I wanted to make sure the original webtoon series won't be disappointed so we tried to stay as loyal as possible," Lee Eung-bok said.

"'Sweet Home' is not — it's an expensive project," he continued. "I would have to say a lot of the things have never been done before in Korea... Values of economical were less important than what we were trying to achieve creatively."

"Sweet Home," is a 10-episode VFX/SFX-heavy series based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It revolves around a world where people turn into monsters that reflect their internal desires while a few remain to fight for their survival.

Featuring Song Kang, Lee Jin Uk, Lee Si Young, Lee Do Hyun, Kim Nam Hee, Ko Min Si, Park Kyu Young and Go Youn Jung, "Sweet Home" is now streaming on Netflix.
