See your favorite fairies come to life in 'Fate: The Winx Saga' official trailer!

For kids who grew up watching their favorite animated fairies battle more mythical creatures, you are in for a treat!

On Tuesday, Netflix released the official trailer of "Fate: the Winx Saga," the six-part series that brings to life Iginio Straffi's Italian cartoon series "Winx Club." 

In the trailer, Bloom can be found thrusted into the world of magic as she attends Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where she and the other fairies Stella, Aisha, Terra, Musa, and Beatrix learn how to master their powers.

Produced by Brian Young, who also created of "The Vampire Diaries," the upcoming live-action series appears to be separate from its origin in exception to the plot and characters.

Where the animated series was upbeat and bright, and meant for kids, this new show took on a much darker, almost sinister, tone that will be appreciated by an older audience.

Featuring Abigail Crown, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, Elisha Applebaum, and Sadie Soverall, "Fate: The Winx Saga" is set to premiere on Netflix this coming January 22. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
