'Thor: Love and Thunder' begins production in Australia

Production for "Thor: Love and Thunder" is officially underway!

Actor Chris Hemsworth confirmed the news via Instagram post, where he posted photos of the cast and crew with indigenous Australians.

The team was greeted warmly with a Welcome to Country ceremony which featured performances from Gamay dancers of the Gadigal and Bidiagal Nation and the Maori dancers from Te Aranganui.

"Indigenous Australians may be just as proud of this country, but many see January 26th as a date signifying the beginning of dispossession, disease epidemics, frontier violence, destruction of culture, exploitation, abuse, separation of families and subjection to policies of extreme social control," he wrote.

"Let’s begin the healing and stand together in unity and support with our First Nations people with solidarity and compassion. Let’s find a date where all Australians can celebrate this beautiful country together," he added.

"Thor: Love and Thunder" is the highly anticipated follow up to hit film 2017 film "Thor: Ragnarok." It will be directed by Taika Waititi.

Aside from Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, who played Jane in the first Thor film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to return to wield the Mjolnir. Tessa Thompson is likewise returning to play Valkyrie.
