Rachel Alejandro sings her hits ‘Mr. Kupido,’ ‘KSP,’ ‘Nakapagtataka’ on ‘Unang Hirit’

“Unang Hirit” viewers got an early Valentine’s gift as Rachel Alejandro treated them to a performance of some of her most popular hits!

Even though she lived miles away in New York, United States, she made time to sing along with the “Unang Hirit” cast.

On Tuesday, the singer and actress played the “Dugtungan” challenge with Connie Sison, Mariz Umali, Arnold Clavio, Ivan Mayrina, Suzi Entrata-Abrera, Susan Enriquez, and Lyn Ching-Pascual while in a video call.

Rachel and the Unang Hirit gang sang “Nakapagtataka,” the song that her father Hajji Alejandro first popularized and which she later revived in the ’90s.

After their short game, she then performed all the way from New York updated versions of some of her biggest hits, “Mr. Kupido” and “KSP (Kulang Sa Pansin).”

A song about unrequited love, the original Pilipino music (OPM) song “Mr. Kupido” has been covered by many Filipino singers, among them Myrtle Sarrosa, Tootsie Guevarra, and many other artists.

Rachel also posted about her “Unang Hirit” guesting on Instagram.

“Mr. Kupido is so back ... because it’s Valentine’s Day soon. Parang Jo Mari Chan pag Pasko,” she said, comparing the song to the Yuletide anthem “Christmas In Our Hearts.”

The singer went viral last week when many internet users mistook her for Vice President Leni Robredo.

A selfie of the singer while in Palawan made the rounds on social media, with a comment criticizing the Vice President for going on vacation.

Rachel later clarified that the person in the photo was her, adding that she was willing to portray Vice President Robredo in a movie should the opportunity come up. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
