'Mortal Kombat' film reboot releases bloody trailer

The film reboot of "Mortal Kombat" just released its first trailer and it's bloody.

Warner Bros. unveiled the official restricted trailer on YouTube, and it's clear that the film will not be shying away from the violence that the original games was known for.

The two-minute video also introduced the characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kano, Shang Tsung, and Goro, among others.

"Mortal Kombat" will revolve around MMA fighter Cole Young, who is unaware of his heritage, but is being hunted down by Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung's best warrior, Sub-Zero.

He finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, and trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe.

Directed by Simon McQuoid, "Mortal Kombat" is based on the video game series developed by Midway Games in 1992.

The game had been adapted into various media, including two major motion pictures "Mortal Kombat" (1995) and "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" (1997).

"Mortal Kombat" will hit theaters and HBO Max on April 16. —JCB, GMA News
