New 'Star Trek' film in the works -report


We might soon be seeing more of Spock and James T. Kirk because the fourth "Star Trek" film from the latest series reboot is reportedly in the works!

According to Deadline, producer J.J. Abrams had tapped "Star Trek: Discovery" writer Kalinda Vazquez to work on the movie.

This is good news to fans who have been waiting for the next installment in the franchise since 2016.

"Star Trek" is a sci-fi media franchise that follows the adventures of Commander Spock, Captain James T. Kirk, and the rest of starship USS Enterprise across space. In the latest film series, Chris Pine plays Kirk and Zachary Quinto plays Spock.

There are currently 13 "Star Trek" feature films in existence, the latest reboot being launched in 2009 with "Star Trek," followed by "Star Trek: Into Darkness" (2013) and "Star Trek: Beyond" (2016).

There has been no sign of the fourth film since, but it looks like we're back on! —JCB, GMA News
