Put your best foot forward

The first thing a hiring company looks at is your resumé. Make sure to create a short and polished list of work experience and achievements that is tailor fit to the position for which you’re applying. Some add an interesting skill or talent to help them stand out from the many other applicant resumés. Just always remember to keep it short, clear, and concise and don’t forget to proofread it!

Also, nowadays, most applicant interviews may be conducted remotely, but get ready for them as if you were going in for a face to face meeting. Wear your interview attire top to bottom, even your shoes! This conditions you to feel more professional and confident by putting you in a mindset that’s ready to impress.

Upskilling in the new normal

The new normal has changed everything including how we do our jobs. Many companies have created ways for their businesses to shift to online platforms and this has led to a change in work processes and a need for new skills. This is where it is important to upskill! This means we should learn additional or more advanced skills to augment those that we have. Continuous learning also keeps us sharp and ready for challenges.

The launch of something great

“Whatever our present situation is, it’s just temporary,” shared Lynn Pinugu, co-founder of Mano Amiga, an organization that provides sustainable livelihood and education to low-income families. Being one of the speakers at the Cream Silk Conditioned for Greater Online launch, she reminds us that anyone can make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others if we only choose greatness in every moment and work towards inspiring it in people around us.

The online launch brought together women who have found success despite the difficulties that the pandemic has brought: Lynn Pinugu of Mano Amiga, Ayn Bernos of Morena the Label, Arielle Escalona of Pure Nectar Philippines, and lifestyle bloggers Vern and Verniece Enciso.

Aside from taking care of their businesses, thinking of the well-being of the people around them was important to them. They focused on unlearning and relearning processes to meet the new needs of their employees. Their stories are inspiring and uplifting, and all of them point to the importance of continuous learning and upskilling as a large factor in keeping up with the times. This is the mindset that we should have in preparing and ‘future-proofing’ ourselves for greater.
