'My Hero Academia' Season 5 begins streaming on Netflix

"My Hero Academia" Season 5 has started streaming on Netflix.

The streaming giant has released the first episode of the much anticipated season a few days after it aired in Japan.

The series picks up after the Eight Precepts of Death arc in Season 4, which introduced key characters like Overhaul and Eri.

Season 4 aired in 2019.

"My Hero Academia" is a popular anime based on the manga by Kohei Horikoshi. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2014 and is currently ongoing, although it implied that it's on its "final act."

It follows the story of Midoriya Izuku, who was born "quirkless" (or lacking a superpower) in a world of superpowered beings, as he makes the difficult journey into becoming a hero.

The franchise is set to premiere its third movie, "My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission," on August 6. —JCB, GMA News
