Angel Locsin apologizes for chaos at community pantry, vows to donate remaining goods

As she apologized for the chaos at her community pantry, Angel Locsin announced that she would close it and donate the remaining goods to similar efforts.

On Friday, the actress explained that even if they prepared for the crowd, authorities from the city government, military, and police could not control it.

“Sa mga hindi po mabibigyan today nais ko po magbigay ng, magsabi ng pasensya po. Gustuhin ko man po mag-abot, I don’t think papayagan ako ulit na gawin ito,” she said in an Instagram post.

[To those who will not receive anything today, I want to offer my apologies. Even if I wanted to give, I don’t think I will be allowed to do this again.]

The actress said she would just donate the remaining goods to other community pantries and barangays.

Angel announced Thursday that she was going to open a community pantry in Quezon City as part of her birthday celebration.

She said they were supposed to open at 10 a.m., but because the line was already long by 7 a.m., they started the pantry two hours ahead of schedule.

At the start, Angel said everything was in order, the people in line observing social distancing as her team distributed stubs.

However, as more people arrived, some began cutting in line, and the crowd became difficult to control.

Angel said she just wanted to celebrate her birthday by helping people. “Hindi ko po intensyon na magkagulo (I did was not my intention to cause chaos),” she said.

The actress also expressed her grief after a senior citizen fainted and died while lining up at her community pantry.

She said the incident was her fault, and that other community pantries should not be affected. – RC, GMA News
