Filipino YouTuber shares what it’s like living with 105 cats, 5 dogs

Cat lovers know having one pet is already a huge responsibility, so how does a man take care of more than 100 fur babies under one roof?

Meet Garry Merza, the proud fur parent of 105 cats and 5 dogs.

On Wednesday's “Unang Hirit,” the pet owner and YouTuber said his babies were rescue cats and he had been opening his home to neglected friends since 2013.

“I started rescuing cats when I realized that they need more care and love,” he told the UH hosts in Filipino.

Contrary to what others might think, Garry makes sure all 105 cats are well taken care of.

He cleans up after them and stocks up up to eight sacks of cat food and chicken to make sure they’re well fed every day.

Garry was also proud to say each one of them responded to their names, such as “N-cov” and “Corona,” who joined the family during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most importantly, Garry makes sure all his cats are spayed and neutered.

He is also open to putting up some of his cats for adoption, but not without proper screening.

Garry said they checked if the potential pet owners just wanted a cat for its breed or color.

“If that’s the case, we know they’re not going to be lifelong partners for our cats,” he said, adding he personally wanted them to go to the “right parent.”

For cat lovers thinking about adopting their first baby, “Unang Hirit” invited an expert, Elvis Lo, to share essential pet care tips for beginners.
