LEGO to launch buildable adult-size Adidas Superstar sneakers brick model

Sneaker fans are in for a treat as a new creative addition to their collection will soon be released!

LEGO is set to launch a buildable brick model of an adult-size classic Adidas Originals Superstar sneaker.

In partnership with Adidas, the Danish toymaker announced that the Adidas Originals LEGO Superstar 10282 sneaker model was a combination of the shoe company’s “archival aesthetics” and LEGO’s iconic bricks.

Faithful to the iconic silhouette, the out-of-the-box design also includes the Adidas Superstar sneakers’ graphics, shell toe shape, trefoil logo, serrated 3 stripes mark, and even comes with shoelaces and its own shoe box. It also features a classic white and black leather construction complete with custom three stripes, shelltoe, and heel tab crafted to carry the LEGO brick pattern.

The set includes 17 extra LEGO elements so customers can choose whether to build the right-foot or left-foot sneaker.

The model, priced at Php 5,999.75, is 12 cm high, 27 cm long and 9 cm wide, and comes with a display stand and plaque.

“As a kid of the 80s and growing up in the 90s, the Superstar sneaker with its rich street art culture was such an iconic item, and that’s also when I got my first pair. So, when the collaboration with Adidas started I was super excited to work on this model. As shoes represent very organic objects, made from flexible material that also look different on every person, it was a fun challenge to translate this into the LEGO System in Play, which by nature is square and blocky,” said LEGO Group senior designer Florian Müller.

“Thanks to the Superstar team at Adidas Originals, it’s been a super collaborative process with valuable insights shared about the art of shoe making, and now we just look forward to seeing how fans will take to the model, customizing it in their own unique and wonderful ways,” he added.

The LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar model will be released July 1 and be available at LEGO Certified Stores and the official online store bankeebricks.ph. It will also be sold on LEGO’s flagship stores at Lazada, Shopee and Zalora come Sept. 1. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
