Christian Bautista recalls 'unforgettable' jamming moment with PNoy

Did you know Christian Bautista once had a chance to "jam" with former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III?

The singer took a moment to share an "unforgettable" memory he had with the 15th president of the Philippines shortly after he passed away last Thursday morning.

Bautista performed at Aquino's inauguration in 2010, along with fellow OPM artists like Gary V. and Ogie Alcasid. According to Christian, he was among those who were asked to stay for a chill jamming session after the program.

"When everyone was going home, an aide went to me and said: 'Is it okay if you guys stay a bit more?'" the singer shared in a zoom interview with GMA reporters after renewing his contract with the network.

"[I said] Bakit po? [The aide answered] Kung pwedeng magkantahan daw kayong lahat, jamming lang. [I said] Oh, okay sure, let's jam, let's jam," he said. "So it was a night na kantahan lang and jamming, and it felt... It was a nice atmosphere. It was very relaxed, and I won't forget that."

Bautista also extended his condolences to Aquino's loved ones.

"I am praying for the family. I wish them comfort and peace that our former president is in a better place," the singer said.

"I pray that also during this time we may be united in honoring his legacy and memory as well and that we may always remember the good also that he has done for all of us," he added.

Aquino passed away at the age of 61 due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. He was laid to rest on Saturday at the Manila Memorial Park.
