Never Have I Ever season 2: Here are 7 things to watch for and enjoy
"Never Have I Ever" season 2 drops on Netflix today, and much like the first season, it has a number of hilarious surprises rolled up its sleeves and scattered through all 10 episodes.
We mean:
1. That crazy going-away party. Season 1 ended with Devi's Mom Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) deciding they'd go back to India, so naturally in Season 2, Devi's (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) got a going-away party. And what a party it is.
The small classy soiree that Eleanor (Ramona Young) had envisioned grew into a major rager that ends with hot Paxton (Darren Barnet) getting hit by a car, among other crazy things that is.
With our social life limited to Zoom e-numans since last year, you actually might miss parties that you once thought you hated.
2. The love triangles

The first season implied a brewing love triangle between Ben (Jaren Lewison), Devi, and Paxton but in season 2, there's going more where that comes from.
All we can say is: it's going to be juicy, it's going to messy, and oh what a hot mess it all is. Revel in it!
3. A new frenemy. We all know how Devi isn't exactly the most popular in high school, and in season 2, she admits thinking it was because of her heritage. She is, after all, the only Indian-American in school. Until Aneesa (Megan Sure) enters the scene.
Like Devi, Aneesa is also Indian-American. This is why teachers have given Devi the task of being something of a guide for the new student. Unlike Devi, Aneesa is cool. Which triggers a strange competitiveness from Devi. It's all fun and games until people get hurt, and real and harmful consequences arise.
4. Common

This one's for you Gen-Xers! Super sexy R&B singer Common gives life to Dr. Jackson, a gaudy but sauve dermatologist. Nalini thinks of him as competition until he becomes something of a love interest. What?! Yes. This adult romance is a welcome counterpoint to the messy love affairs of high schoolers.
5. Trent Harrison, as in Paxton's friend. Wow, the character development in this one. Trent (Benjamin Norris) continues to play a minor role but in the second season, he displays a lot more nuance. He grows from simply being the token stoner friend to a man of well, impeccable taste.
6. Kamala's own coming together. Devi's hot scientist cousin Kamala (Richa Moorjani) has her own drama to contend with, and curiously it is Devi's signature style of crazy thinking that helps her deal with them.
Her decisions may be questionable but they help impart the important lesson of standing up for yourself and remaining true to you, in the face of family, career, and even relationships.
7. Oh, the vulnerability, tenderness, and introspection

Much like the first season, "Never Have I Ever season 2" contains all the bells and whistles of a coming-of-age romcom. It's a continuous flow of stimuli after stimuli that will delight, enrage, and have viewers cringe.
So it is all too easy to miss out on the very beautiful insights about grief and the vulnerability of Devi and her mom. Please don't make this mistake. At the heart of the series is the mother and daughter dealing with the loss of Mohan, and it is all at once tender and vulnerable.
