'Midnight Mass'

New horror series from 'The Haunting of Hill House' creator gets creepy trailer

There's a new horror story headed your way, and it's created by none other than the genius behind "The Haunting of Hill House."

Netflix just released the trailer for "Midnight Mass" by Mike Flanagan and it already looks promising.

The series is set in Crockett Island, an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — following the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.

In a statement, Flanagan said "Midnight Mass" is his favorite project so far.

"There is darkness at work on Crockett Island. Some of it is supernatural, but the scariest is born of human nature. The darkness that animates this story isn’t hard to see in our own world, unfortunately," he said.

"But this show is about something else as well…faith itself. One of the great mysteries of human nature. How even in the darkness, in the worst of it, in the absence of light — and hope — we sing," he added.

Flanagan is known for creating Netflix's hit horror series "The Haunting of Hill House," and its sequel "The Haunting of Bly Manor."

"Midnight Mass" is premiering on Netflix on September 24. —JCB, GMA News
