GMA Playlist artists say ‘ghosting’ is one topic they wish to write songs about

Artists of the newly launched GMA Playlist have expressed their intention to write songs about topics that many people can relate to, especially one they’re familiar with—“ghosting.”

In an online interview with GMA News Online on Wednesday, Lexi Gonzales said she had had her fair share of experience with the practice and would like to put a message out there.

“I think I’d like to make a song about ghosting because there are a lot who can relate and I’d like to share that hopefully, ‘don’t be that kind of person,’” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“I would like to make music about ghosting that would really express how I felt back then because it really hurts and it’s good to create music about how you feel.”

Seb Pajarillo, meanwhile, said although he had no experience on the topic, he would like to get inspiration from his fans who had been greatly affected by it.

“I have a general idea from fans when I go live on TikTok and talk about relationships. Sometimes, the topic of ghosting arises,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“I’ll get inspiration from them because for me, it’s better since they will also be the ones to listen so once they know that they can relate, they’ll be hooked with the songs I compose,” he added.

According to Merriam-Webster, ghosting is “the act or practice of abruptly cutting off all contact with someone by no longer accepting or responding to phone calls and instant messages.”

The practice, which has been widely used on dating apps, often leaves the other party confused and with unresolved feelings.
