Rain Matienzo, TikTok’s ‘Conyo Girl,’ gives tips to camera-shy people
Want to be on top of your game when in front of the camera? Well, TikTok’s “Conyo Girl” has some useful tips for you.
In an online interview with the press on Tuesday, Rain Matienzo said the first thing to do was identify where the fear was from in order to move forward.
“They first have to ask themselves what’s making them shy. Because it’s not the camera itself. Hello? It’s just a thing,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.
“What they’re scared of is getting bashed, criticized, or rejected.”
According to the TikTok sensation, one advice she always gives her friends is in a form of a question that lets them ponder on their choices.
“If you’re scared then you have to bury that dream. Are you brave enough to bury that dream?” she said.
“If you don’t wanna bury that dream, you have to take the next step and overcome what’s making you scared to go in front of the camera and pursue your dreams,” she said.
Rain added that no matter what one chooses to do, there would always be some criticism.
“The people, they will always be there. Rejection, it will always happen. The question is: When do you wanna face rejection?”
“Further down the line when you have no more energy or talent or now when you have all the energy or talent in the world to face bashers, cry about it, and get up again the next day?”
Rain Matienzo recently graduated cum laude from University of the Philippines Diliman with a degree in broadcast communication.
She rose to fame as the “Conyo Girl” on TikTok who did point of view (POV) videos. She was also the courtside reporter of Adamson University during UAAP Season 82. – RC, GMA News
