Christian Bautista, Julie Anne San Jose’s new song ‘Everybody Hurts’ sends message of reassurance, hope

Christian Bautista and Julie Anne San Jose are at it again with a new collaboration that will give listeners all the feels.

Titled “Everybody Hurts,” the song talks about allowing oneself to be vulnerable while also being strong enough to face life’s inevitable challenges and pain.

“Sa lyrics, parang nire-remind mo ang isang kaibigan o partner mo na minsan, kahit anong gawin mo, ’di mo maiiwasang masaktan kahit na you’re doing your best, trying to change things,” Christian said in an online interview with the press Wednesday.

“‘It’s part of life. I’m still here as your friend, partner or family member. As you go through it, tuloy lang. Nandito pa rin ako.’ That’s what the song is trying to say,” he said. “This song is like a process.”

Julie Anne said the song aimed to make listeners feel valid with its message that everyone had their own obstacles in their lives. Nevertheless, they would find a way to get through it.

“Lahat naman ng tao ay nasasaktan. Kayanin mo kasi kailangan,” she said.

“It’s reassurance na lahat tayo, we feel hurt and down sometimes. But for sure, there are better days,” she added.

“Even the strongest and the most capable person gets hurt and needs saving. Tao lang din naman tayo.”

“Everybody Hurts” is released by Universal Records and produced by a Swedish company which has handled global stars such as BTS, TWICE, Red Velvet, and Icona Pop.

The new song will be out Jan. 21 on all digital streaming platforms. A music video starring Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay is in the works.
