'The Hunger Games' marks 10 years since first movie was released
It has been 10 years since Jennifer Lawrence brought to life iconic "The Hunger Games" heroine Katniss Everdeen.
On Facebook, the movie's official account marked its big anniversary by sharing photo stills, which also featured Josh Hutcherson, who played Peeta Mellark.
"Cannot for the life of me believe it’s been TEN WHOLE YEARS since the hunger games was released. thank you for the best 10 years," the post said.
Based on the novels by Suzanne Collins, "The Hunger Games" is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future where tributes are chosen to compete in a televised fight to the death.
In the first installation, Katniss and Peeta end up being the tributes from their district and they travel to the Capitol for the deadly competition.
All three books from the original trilogy were adapted into film, with the last one being split into two parts.
The last installment, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II," was released in 2015. —JCB, GMA News
