'It' prequel series 'Welcome to Derry' in the works —report

A prequel to "It" is reportedly in the works at HBO Max.

According to Variety, the series will be an origin story of the terrifying clown, Pennywise.

Currently called "Welcome to Derry," it is set in the 1960s and will lead up to the events of the 2017 film by Andy Muschietti.

Muschietti is reportedly set to executive produce.

Based on the classic novel by Stephen King, "It" (2017) follows a group of children terrorized by Pennywise the Clown.

It was followed by a sequel in 2019, titled "It: Chapter Two." It is set in 2016, 27 years after the events of the first film. —JCB, GMA News
